Support groups have been shown to be very helpful in improving the quality of life for cancer survivors. The OCAF offers support group meetings to women at any stage of their cancer experience. Caregivers and friends are also welcome.
Our meetings are normally held on the third Thursday of each month. We have no meetings scheduled at this time as we search for a new venue. We are also adding day times meetings to our schedule. We will keep you posted and appreciate your patience.
The group provides a compassionate, respectful and empathetic space for survivors to share their experiences, feelings and challenges. The group includes a wide age range and a variety of career and family backgrounds, each bringing new perspectives and coping skill ideas to the stressors and challenges that are faced in illness, treatment and recovery. The group is full of strong, supportive women who listen and comfort each other with a touch of humor and hope on their ovarian cancer journey.
Meetings are private and confidential and the OCAF requests that the issues heard in the meetings are not discussed outside of the group. If there is an issue that is beyond the scope of the meeting, professional assistance will be offered.
